Chennai, Jan. 3 -- Keeping an important segment of the electorate in good stead ahead of the crucia assembly electionsdue in 4 months, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS) forgovernment employees, providing 50% of the last drawn basic pay.
Following the new arrangement, pension will be equal to that of the last drawn pay of the government servant.
Reverting to the Old Pension Scheme was a poll pledge of the ruling DMK and government servants, including teachers,have launched protests since last month to press Stalin to honour his assurance made in the 2021 election manifesto.
