Pune, Feb. 2 -- The Agarwal Marwari Chamber of Commerce Industries and Education on Sunday strongly opposed the proposed hike in rates of ready reckoner by the Maharashtra government.

Talking to UNI, national president of the Chamber Rajesh Agarwal said that land prices across the country are skyrocketing today and due to heavy GST on steel, cement and goods used for construction business, buying a house has remained only a dream for the middle class.

In this situation, the Maharashtra government is considering to increase the rates of ready reckoner by about 10 to 15 percent, if this happens, owning a house will become even more difficult for the middle class, he said.
