Chennai, July 20 -- Leading opthalmologist Dr Amar Agarwal, who is the Chairman of Dr Agarwal Group of Hospitals, has devised a new technique--Pinhole pupilloplasty or Pinhole surgery to avoid cornea transplants.

"Globally in the world we have more than 20 million or two crore blind due to corneal blindness waiting for donor corneas", he said, according to a hospital release.

The cornea is the front window of the eye. If some one gets an injury this can be damaged. It can lead to scarring in the cornea. Some developmental conditions are there called conical cornea or keratoconus in which the cornea is conical, he said.
