Chennai, Feb. 7 -- In a shocking incident raising concerns of safety in
running trains, a pregnant woman passenger, bravely resisted a sexual
assault attempt by a drunkard youth in the ladies compartment, before she
was pushed out by him from the moving Express train in Tamil Nadu on
Thursday and suffered injuries.
The incident, which came to light today, happened at the ladies compartment
on the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express, triggering strong condemnation
from Opposition parties, including the AIADMK, PMK and the BJP.
They said there was no security was women passengers in trains and demanded
deployment of more GRP and RPF personnel in trains to ensure their safety.
