Chennai, Sept. 16 -- Heavy rains pounded Chennai and its suburbs in thewee hours, even as sun blazed down with full intensity right from the dawnthis morning, reuslting in spike in humidity level causing discomfiture to thepeople of this teeming megapolis.
The rains, which lasted more than 2-3 hours, was accompanied by deafeningthunder, waking up people from deep slumber, and lightning.
Several areas of the city were waterlogged and students going to school thismorning found it difficult to wade through the inundated roads.
