Shimla, Sept. 24 -- Leaving the hill state with a trail of devastation, the southwest monsoon withdrew from many areas today; however, having weakened, it still prevails in the remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department said.

The southwest monsoon has begun its retreat from Himachal Pradesh, marking the onset of the withdrawal phase across the region, it added.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin stated that the line of withdrawal now passes through Rampur Bushahr in Himachal Pradesh, along with parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
