Aizawl, April 21 -- The resurgence of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Mizoram continues to take a heavy toll, with 136 pig deaths reported across four districts on Monday alone, pushing the total death count this year to 2,663, officials from the state Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department confirmed.

Southern Mizoram's Siaha town, which shares a border with Myanmar, was the worst hit, with 88 pig deaths recorded across 21 localities. Lawngtlai town, also a border district adjoining both Myanmar and Bangladesh, reported 43 deaths in four localities.

Lunglei town, near the Myanmar border, saw four pig deaths in two localities, while Zawlnuam town in Mamit district, which borders Tripura and Bangladesh, registered one death.
