Aizawl, July 25 -- The Mizoram animal husbandry and veterinary department has declared 100 villages and localities across six districts as African Swine Fever (ASF)-infected areas, as the
disease continues to spread.
As of today, a total of 2,369 pig farming families have been impacted by the resurgence of ASF, officials confirmed.
On Friday alone, 41 pigs were reported dead across three districts. Khawzawl district in the north-eastern part of Mizoram saw the highest casualties, with 33 pigs lost, while Lunglei district in the south, which borders Bangladesh, reported seven fatalities. Mamit district, sharing a border with Tripura, recorded one casualty.
