Kabul, June 4 -- Afghanistan government has begun the construction of an elaborate water supply network to provide potable water to residents in the country's northern Takhar province, reported the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Wednesday.
To be completed within five months and financed by the World Bank, the network would provide clean water via water taps to the 450 families, the state-owned media outlet said.
The residents of Takhar province have little access to clean water, and many villagers used to fetch water from polluted basins and standing waters which caused illness to the people.
Similar projects have earlier been launched in several provinces to provide clean water to the people.
