Kabul, Dec. 16 -- Afghanistan is committed to eradicating polio, a health official said Monday at the launch of a nationwide vaccination campaign, local media Tolonews reported.

Sharafat Zaman Omarkhil, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, made the remarks as the latest immunization drive in the current year began.

This is the final anti-polio campaign of 2025. Over four days, about 7.2 million children under five will receive oral polio vaccine drops in 16 of the country's 34 provinces, including the capital, Kabul.
