Kabul, June 27 -- The Afghan interim government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the Russian authorities to thoroughly investigate the attack on a two-year-old Afghan child in Moscow and impose a penalty on the perpetrator, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported today.

A Belarussian national reportedly attacked the Afghan boy at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow on June 24, badly injuring the child.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry, according to the state-owned media outlet, has also instructed its embassy counsellor Hafiz Abdullah Yasir to undertake both diplomatic and legal measures to address the issue and provide necessary support to the victim's family.
