Kuala Lumpur, April 14 -- In a move aimed at broadening participation and raising the overall standard of club football across the continent, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions committee has proposed expanding the AFC Champions League Elite from 24 to 32 teams.
Under the proposed format, the competition will continue to be split evenly between the East and West regions, with 16 teams in each zone.
