Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 26 -- Marking a significant step towards improving railway safety and operational efficiency, an advanced Electronic Interlocking (EI) system at Kumbalam Railway Station in the Ernakulam-Alappuzha section has been successfully commissioned by the Thiruvananthapuram Division on Wednesday.

This upgrade replaces the older relay-based mechanical signaling system, ensuring better reliability, flexibility, and safer train operations.

Interlocking systems are crucial for railway operations as they prevent improper sequencing of signals and conflicting train movements. With this automation, rail operations will become more efficient and reliable.
