Kinnaur, Sept. 13 -- The district administration has advised people in low-lying areas along the Sutlej river to remain vigilant after Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) announced a sharp rise in discharge from Nathpa Dam.
According to a communication from the Shift In-charge of Dam Operations, the incoming discharge at the dam is rising steadily.
To regulate the flow, around 200 cumecs of extra water will be released through the radial gates from 5:30 pm onwards today.
With this, the total tentative discharge downstream of Nathpa Dam is expected to reach 431 cumecs (350 cumecs through radial gates and 81 cumecs through SFT).
Officials further cautioned that if inflows continue to rise, more water may be released.
