Kolkata, March 18 -- The adjudication process of voters listed as 'under consideration' in West Bengal's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is gaining pace, raising the possibility that the exercise may be completed before the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to Election Commission sources, nearly two lakh names are being disposed of everyday, significantly accelerating the scrutiny process.

"A total of 23.3 lakh 'under consideration' entries have been adjudicated till Wednesday evening," an official in the CEO office said.

Officials indicated that an additional voter list may be published within the current week.
