Nagpur, Dec. 12 -- Minister Aditi Tatkare today dismissed as baseless, merger discussions between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

She stated that no such meeting took place yesterday between the two factions.

According to Tatkare, a cordial dinner had been organised for MPs on the occasion of Sharad Pawar's birthday. The event was meant for select invitees, and Ajit Pawar's presence at the programme was purely because he was invited.

She stressed that no closed-door meeting was held regarding the unification of the two NCP groups.
