Bengaluru, March 7 -- A special economic offences court here on Friday granted the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) a three-day custody of Sandalwood actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested for smuggling 14.8 kg of gold from Dubai.

The court issued the Order after DRI presented evidence of her involvement in a gold smuggling racket, which was uncovered at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) earlier this week.

The DRI has been probing the smuggling network, and additional gold worth Rs 2.1 crore and Rs 2.7 crore in cash were discovered at her Lavelle Road residence during further searches. The DRI has raised concerns about a potential "threat to national security" and is investigating the source and purpose of the smuggled gold. ...
