Sambhal, Sept. 26 -- Police have arrested the main accused in the recent acid attack case in Sambhal following a late-night encounter.

The accused, who had been absconding since the incident, sustained gunshot wounds to both legs during the exchange of fire. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital under tight security.

The attack occurred on September 23 when the accused allegedly threw acid on a female school teacher as she returned home from work, leaving her seriously injured. The victim is under close observation at the district hospital.
