Mumbai, Feb. 28 -- The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police arrested Manohar Arunachalam (33), son of wanted accused Unnanathan Arunachalam alias Arun Bhai, in connection with embezzlement of Rs 122 crore from the bank's safe of New India Cooperative Bank.

He was later produced in the court which remanded him to police custody, an official said on Friday.

Manohar is accused of helping his father to escape.

Unnanathan Arunachalam is accused of accepting Rs 40 crore from the prime accused and former general manager of the bank Hitesh Mehta.

On February 15, Mumbai police had registered a Rs 122 crore fraud case against the top officials of city-based New India Cooperative Bank, two days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed ...
