Chennai, March 8 -- One of the two accused arrested in connection with an attack, died while he was being taken to police station for interrogation at Manamadurai Taluk in the southern Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, triggering protests by locals and condemnation from Opposition parties, which alleged that it was a custodial death due to police torture.

Police sources said the accused Akash Delison died due to breathing problems while being escorted to Madurai prison after treatment for his fractured leg, which he suffered when he jumped from a bridge in an attempt to escape from the cops.
