Puri, May 26 -- Snehasis Ganguly, brother of cricketer Sourav Ganguly, and his wife Arpita had a narrow escape from drowning when their speedboat overturned at Puri beach, leaving them gasping for breath in the sea.
According to reports, the Ganguly couple had checked into a seaside hotel near the Baliapanda area on Saturday morning. Later in the afternoon, they went for a boat ride along with two other tourists.
While enjoying the ride, the speedboat suddenly capsized, throwing all four passengers into the sea. Fortunately, they were wearing life jackets, and nearby lifeguards promptly rescued them.
Police confirmed on Monday that the couple was safe and had left Puri on Sunday.
