Kolhapur, May 26 -- Anti Corruption Berou (ACB) officials on Monday arrested a Talathi in Maharashtra's Kohapur district for demanding Rs 50,000 for releasing a JCB seized from a complainant.
The arrested person has been identified as Ramesh Murlidhar Waliwdekar, Talathi of Sajja-Wadi Ratnagiri in Panhala tehsil.
An ACB press release said the complainant had worked at Giroli village to remove a truck, which was getting bogged down in mud, by using a JCB without taking permission from Waliwdekar, who seized the JCB and demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe for releasing it. Then the matter was settled at Rs 25,000.
Later, the complainant informed ACB officials who laid a trap and arrested Waliwdekar for demanding the bribe.
