Hyderabad, Feb. 12 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a sub-inspector of police and his driver red-handed while accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe on Tuesday evening.

At around 1815 hours, on the instructions of the accused officer (AO-1), P Venu Gopal Goud, Sub-Inspector of Police at Dharur Police Station, Vikarabad district, K. Beerappa, his driver (AO-2), demanded and accepted the bribe from the complainant.

The bribe was allegedly taken in exchange for granting station bail (issuing a notice under Section 35 BNSS in Cr. No. 17/2025 of Dharur Police Station) to the complainant and his family members, as well as for removing the complainant's son's name from the case, according to an ACB statement issued on Wednesday.
