Srinagar, Dec. 26 -- Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a clerk in Anantnag district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for releasing payment of a work bill.
The accused was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Ahanger, a clerk posted in the office of the Rural Engineering Wing (RDD), Anantnag.
According to the ACB, it received a written complaint alleging that the complainant's father had constructed a small irrigation channel and, after completion of the work, submitted the bill, which was forwarded through the concerned quarters to the RDD office in Anantnag.
The complaint alleged that Ahanger openly demanded a bribe for clearing and releasing the payment.
