Kozhikode, Jan. 4 -- Justice N. Nagesh of the Kerala High Court on Saturday warned that absolute individual freedom could lead to anarchy, but said Indian society has been able to maintain balance by tempering personal liberty with moral restraint and mutual understanding, unlike many Western societies.

Justice Nagesh said the Indian value system is founded on a spirit of mutual sacrifice, wherein the individual is willing to make compromises for the family, the family for the village, the village for society, and society for the nation.

Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, he noted, was founded by Parameshwarji at a time when Kerala was drifting away from India's traditional ethos, as an inseparable component of Bharatiya thought.
