Deoria (UP), Aug. 16 -- A team of Special Task Force (STF) field unit Varanasi has arrested an inmate who had absconded from Deoria district jail in Uttar Pradesh about two and a half years ago for rape and POCSO Act from Surat city of Gujarat, a police spokesman said here today.
The spokesperson said that Upendra Pandey, a resident of village Baraipur in Rampur Factory area of the district, is accused of rape and POCSO Act. "The said accused had absconded from the district jail on December 29, 2022," he said.
The spokesperson said that the police was investigating the matter by registering another case in the matter. "Police teams were engaged to arrest him," he said.
