Chennai, Oct. 27 -- A dozen fuel assemblies out of the total 181 fuel assemblies have been loaded into India's first 500 MW Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) in Kalpakkam through the alternate route till date, said an authentic source in the Indian nuclear power sector. It is learnt that the fuel loading will take about three or four months to be completed and in between the approach to criticality will be done.

The fuel loading began during the last week through the alternate route as the original inclined fuel transfer machine (IFTM) had encountered some technical issues, sources in the Indian nuclear power sector had told UNI earlier.
