Kolkata, Oct. 27 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee today described as a "historic victory" the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss the Central Government's plea, which had challenged the Calcutta High Court's order to resume the MGNREGA scheme in West Bengal.
In a strong reaction posted on his WhatsApp channel, Banerjee stated, "Today's verdict is a democratic slap on the face of those who believed Bengal could be bullied, coerced, or silenced." He sharply criticised the BJP, accusing it of attempting to impose an economic blockade on West Bengal.
