Gorakhpur, Aug. 26 -- An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, injured in a brutal assault last week, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a private hospital in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Following his death, family members and party workers staged a protest outside the hospital, accusing doctors of negligence.

The deceased, Kunjbihari Nishad, a resident of Rampur Nayagaon in the Gorakhnath police station area, was a local building material supplier and had contested the municipal elections from Ward No. 14, Rajendra Prasad Nagar, on an AAP ticket.

On August 23, Kunjbihari had gone to collect a pending payment of Rs 50,000 from Abhishek Pandey, who was constructing a house in the same locality.
