New Delhi, Jan. 12 -- The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday alleged that the BJP-led Delhi government is attempting to "paralyze" the Municipal Corporation of Delhi by capping the budget for councillors at Rs 25 lakh.

The claims were made by Ankush Narang, the Leader of Opposition in the MCD House, who alleged that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conveyed this decision during a New Year lunch at her residence.

Narang said the Chief Minister advised councillors to rely on their respective MLAs for monitoring local work, rather than expecting higher financial allocations for development tasks. He argued that this move would hamper ground-level governance, as residents predominantly approach councillors for local issues and civic works.
