Amravati, Oct. 14 -- A 75-year-old woman, who had been on a hunger strike in front of the district collector's office here, died during treatment, sparking tension after her family accused police of forcibly taking possession of her body.
The deceased, identified as Shantabai Ukarada, had been on a hunger strike for nearly six months, demanding action on issues related to a compassionate job for her daughter and longstanding property disputes.
Her daughter, Vijaya Ukarada, alleged that they were denied justice due to the involvement of workers linked to local MLA Sanjay Khodke and Sulabha Khodke.
Following Shantabai's death, her family refused to hand over the body, insisting that justice be served first.
