Srinagar, Sept. 25 -- Prohibitory restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 are in place in Leh as an eerie calm prevailed a day after violent clashes over demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule status left four people dead and dozens injured.

The union government has blamed environment activist Sonam Wangchuk, who ended his fast after the violence yesterday, for "provoking" protestors.

Police and Central armed police force personnel have been deployed in strength in Leh to maintain law and order and prevent further escalation.

"Since last evening there has been no report of any violence," said an official.
