Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct. 10 -- A 9-year-old girl was killed by a leopard in Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday evening. The child, identified as Preet Kaur, was returning home from school with her aunt when the leopard attacked her near sugarcane fields under the North Nighasan Forest Range.
According to eyewitnesses, the leopard suddenly emerged from the sugarcane field, pounced on Preet, and dragged her into the field by her neck. Her aunt, Paramjeet Kaur, immediately raised an alarm and ran after the leopard. Hearing her screams, nearbyfarmers rushed to the scene and began shouting to scare the animal away. The leopard eventually fled, but by then, Preet had succumbed to her injuries.
