Bengaluru, Sept. 6 -- A nine-year-old boy died in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district after his younger brother accidentally fired an air gun kept by a farm caretaker.
The tragedy occurred at a farm in Somanahalli Chipagi village near Sirsi, and has led police to book the caretaker, Nitish Gouda, 40, and the farm owner, Raghav Hegade, 62, on charges including murder and violations of the Arms Act.
According to police, Kariyappa Basappa Undi, the son of a daily wage earner, was hit at close range by a pellet while playing with his seven-year-old sibling. CCTV footage from the farm reportedly shows Kariyappa falling after the trigger was accidentally pressed.
