Manila, Dec. 14 -- Eight people were killed while four others were injured after a vehicle lost its brakes, rolled off the road, and plunged into a rocky vacant lot in Negros Oriental province in the central Philippines, police said on Sunday.
According to police, the crash occurred on Saturday morning as the vehicle was traveling down a downhill slope on its way to a cemetery in Ayungon municipality.
The passengers, all relatives, were reportedly heading to a death anniversary service.
The fatalities included one male and seven females aged between 42 and 71, police said.
