Mumbai, Oct. 17 -- A major cyber fraud investigation has uncovered that criminals used as many as 6,500 bank accounts across India to disperse Rs 58 crore stolen from a 72-year-old share trader in a sophisticated 'digital arrest' scam.
According to police officials, the fraudsters swiftly dispersed the stolen funds across multiple accounts to evade detection and prevent authorities from blocking the transactions.
The extensive network of bank accounts used in the fraud was found to be spread across various parts of the country. Police have so far arrested seven individuals, including several account holders and their handlers involved in the money movement.
