Anakapalli/New Delhi, Dec. 29 -- A 70-year-old passenger was charred to death after a fire broke out in two AC coaches of the Tata Nagar-Ernakulam Express (Train No. 18189) in the early hours of Monday.

Two air-conditioned coaches of the Ernakulam bound train caught fire soon after crossing Duvvada around 1-1.15 am.

Speaking with the UNI, CPRO (Chief Public Relations Officer) for South Central Railway (SCR) A. Sridhar, said that the fire initially broke out in the B1 coach and soon spread to the adjacent M2 coach.
