Bhopal, Dec. 31 -- Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava on Wednesday confirmed that seven people have died so far due to consumption of contaminated tap water supplied by the Municipal Corporation in Indore, the cleanest city of India.

The Mayor told media persons that to his knowledge, seven persons have succumbed. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs two lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

The CM also paid tributes to the deceased and stated that the expenditure of treatment of those hospitalised would be borne by the state government. Dr Yadav directed the district administration authorities and Doctors to ensure the best possible treatment of those admitted.
