Ranchi, Dec. 8 -- Wild elephants unleashed chaos in Khunti district late Sunday night, killing a 60-year-old woman and causing extensive damage to crops and public property across several villages.

The incident occurred in Degri Dahtoli village under Rania block, where a herd of elephants entered the settlement to feed on paddy stored in local threshing yards. According to reports, when Maryam Kongari stepped out of her house after hearing noises, one of the elephants attacked her. The impact of the assault was so severe that she died on the spot.
