Kendrapara, June 29 -- Personnel from Bhitarkanika National Park have rescued a 6.4-foot-long male saltwater crocodile from a pond at Endulapur village under Rajnagar block in this coastal district. The crocodile was rescued yesterday using a fishing net from the pond belonging to one Dambarudhar Rout. Forest officials suspect that the crocodile may have strayed from its natural habitat during a high tide.

The rescued reptile was later released into the Habali creek near Gupti, within the Bhitarkanika National Park.
