Colombo, May 31 -- Nearly 6,000 people have been affected by severe weather across Sri Lanka, according to the latest report from the nation's Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
The adverse conditions have impacted 5,974 individuals from 1,579 families, with 1,545 homes sustaining partial damage.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's state-run Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) reported over 50,000 power outages by 8 p.m. Friday, following intense rainfall and strong winds brought by the ongoing monsoon season.
