Kathmandu, May 14 -- A total of 56 climbers had reached the top of Mount Qomolangma from the Nepali side during the spring climbing season, Nepal's Department of Tourism said on Wednesday.
Among them, 40 scaled the world's tallest peak at 8,848.86 meters on Wednesday morning, including eight from China, six from Ukraine, two from the Czech Republic, and one each from Japan and Britain.
"We have reports that 56 climbers had successfully reached the summit as of Wednesday morning after the ropes were fixed," Himal Gautam, director at the department, told Xinhua.
On May 9, a team of Sherpa guides from 8K Expeditions installed the ropes to the peak which straddles Nepal and China.
