Hyderabad, Jan. 2 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday said that 52.82 lakh families in Telangana are benefiting from the Gruha Jyothi Scheme, under which free electricity up to 200 units is being provided.
Replying to a question raised by MLC Vijayashanti in the Legislative Council, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that the State Government has so far paid Rs 3,593.17 crore to electricity distribution companies on behalf of the beneficiaries.
He said that of the total beneficiaries, 25,35,560 fall under the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (SPDCL), while 27,46,938 are covered under the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (NPDCL).
