Lucknow, July 10 -- As many as 512 gram panchayats have been abolished as the delimitation of panchayats for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh rural local bodies polls have been completed.
11 new gram panchayats have been formed.
The highest number of the abolished gram panchayats were of Deoria, Azamgarh and Pratapgarh districts. While 58,195 village gram pradhans were elected in the panchayat elections of 2021, but in the next panchayat polls in the state, it has been decreased to 57,694 village pradhans.
