Kabul, June 19 -- More than 5 million Afghan refugees have relinquished their refugee status and returned to Afghanistan since the current Afghan administration took power nearly four years ago, according to Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, spokesman for the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.

"Since taking over power by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, 310,000 families numbering 2,848,000 individuals have returned from Pakistan, Iran and Turkiye to their homeland Afghanistan," the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) quoted Haqqani as saying Wednesday night.
