Malappuram, May 9 -- Kerala Health Minister Veena George announced that 49 persons who were in contact with a confirmed Nipah infected 42-year-old woman patient in Malappuram district are under observation.

Samples from six symptomatic individuals have been sent for testing. Five with mild symptoms have been admitted to isolation at Manjeri Medical College. Additionally, a staff nurse from Ernakulam working at Perinthalmanna Hospital is also in isolation, and her samples have been collected.
