Kolkata, Feb. 18 -- A forty-seven-year-old man was burnt alive after a fire broke out to a portion at his two-storied building at Salt Lake DA 4 Block but his wife and minor daughter escaped unhurt as they ran away but the owner stuck in the upper floor, police said on Tuesday.
A part of the house was burnt down before three fire fighting vehicles were pressed into services to douse the flame.
The owner of the house, identified as Debarshi Ganguly died in the blaze.
It was unclear how the fire broke out, but the fire brigade and police suspected the flames happened following
smoking as butts of cigarettes were found from the ashes.
