Kathmandu, July 31 -- 43 people have lost their lives and 116 others sustained injuries across Nepal since the monsoon season started in late May, a government agency said.
The 569 disasters sparked by monsoon rains have also left 16 people missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said in a report on Wednesday evening.
Floods were the deadliest by claiming 15 lives and wounding seven, followed by lightning strikes, which killed 14 and injured 95, and landslides that left 14 dead.
"The loss is lower compared with last year, when 177 had lost their lives and 182 sustained injuries in two months since the onset of the monsoon," the report noted.
