Agartala, Feb. 14 -- The South Tripura district court on Friday awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to a 42-years old Raju Das for abduction and rape of a 15-years old minor four years ago.

District and session judge Govinda Das found Raju guilty under Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO) and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000, and in case of non-payment, an additional two-year of imprisonment.

Special public prosecutor Prabhat Chandra Dutta said Raju Das, a resident of Ishanchandra Nagar under Belonia police station, father of a daughter abducted the girl and rape her on February 28, 2021, as he became acquainted with the victim at her maternal uncle's house.
