Agartala, Sept. 24 -- Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha yesterday informed the assembly that over the past three years, a total of 3,518 illegal immigrants have been apprehended in the state.
In response to a query from TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Dr Saha said altogether 2,739 of them were subsequently sent back to their countries. The security agencies, collaborating with central forces, have ramped up monitoring along the 856 km international border.
Saha reported that 982 illegal entrants were caught in 2022, with numbers rising to 1,072 in 2023 and 1,007 in 2024, along with 412 apprehensions up to August 2025. The detained individuals include nationals from Bangladesh, Rohingya communities, as well as a few from Nigeria and Fr...
